Improve Your Focus

Lacking focus can be really fu*king annoying! When you want or need to get something done, pay attention or complete a task but your mind is just not having any of it, it’s time to step back and figure out how to improve your focus.

Why Can’t I Focus?

The main reasons you are struggling to focus are likely down to one or more of the following;

distracted at work

The Environment

Distractions in the form of temptations such as, phones or food as well as distractions from others or discomfort in temperature, lighting, and noise distractions.

tired at work

Lack of Sleep

Poor sleep habits can have a huge impact on your focus, mood and concentration.

bored at work

Lack of Interest

You have none or little interest in the subject or task. Basically it’s booooring!

Mind and Learning Differences

Learning disabilities such as Dyslexia, ADHD or Mental Health Disorders such as Depression and Anxiety all play a part in your ability to focus and concentrate on a task.

How To Improve Focus

  1. Find your why

What is it you need to focus on, and why?

If you want to improve your focus on studying then find your motivation and drive as to why you are studying.

Working towards that dream job, self-achievement, making your parents proud, or simply gaining the qualification and never having to study again!

Whatever it is, find your why and use it as motivation and drive to maintain focus.

  2. Remove Distraction

Having a suitable, designated place for you to work, study, or complete the task at hand will greatly improve your ability to focus.

A clean desk and putting phones on silent or removing them from view will limit distractions as well as make sure you have enough time to get into the task without stopping and starting.

  3. Lessen the load

Break down the task or lessen the time spent trying to focus in one go. Find what works best for you, some people like interval timers to go between focus time and a set time to relax to stop your mind from wandering. Breaking tasks down can also help them seem less daunting and give you a higher chance of completing the task.

  4. Improve your overall health and well-being

Better quality sleep, nutrition, and staying active all play a vital part in improving focus.

Good quality sleep and a regular routine are proven to improve alertness, focus, and concentration as well as the huge benefits of a healthy diet fuelling your brain and improving your overall well-being.

We usually think of good nutrition as supporting our physical bodies in strength and energy but the most important part, the central control system of our being is our brains.

If we don’t fuel our brains with the nutrients to function efficiently then everything starts to suffer, our focus being one them.

Supplements For Focus

There are a bunch of companies and products on the market at the moment promoting and selling supplements to improve focus, concentration, and overall health and well-being.

I have personally tried quite a few including the Brands AG1 and HUX.

My personal favourite for Taste, Cost, and Benefits has to be HUX.

I have used their Nootropics and their Daily Greens Powder for the past two years now and can confidently recommend them for overall health and well-being.

However, there are many options available and it comes down to your specific wants and needs as well as budget.

If you do go with a daily supplement I would recommend you stick with it for at least 6 months and monitor your mood, energy levels, and ability to focus to really see how it benefits you personally.

*I do not earn from these recommendations, they are my own opinions.

Improving your focus is very specific to each individual what works for one person might disrupt another so really become aware of yourself, what interrupts your focus, and what helps support your focus.

Now that you have read all the information, congrats on making it this far! Put all I have mentioned into practice. It’s all fine to research and gain knowledge on an issue but unless you do the work and make the changes nothing will change.

Make the changes and improve your focus.
