Motivation To Workout - Even When You Don’t Want To!

Let’s face it, sometimes the thought of doing a workout sucks and no amount of positive self-talk is going to change your mind.

I’ve been there, you’ve been there. It’s perfectly normal but, how do we kickstart that motivation and refuel the desire to get sweaty when the sofa looks so comfortable?

How to get Motivated to Workout, Even when you don’t want to!

So you’re struggling to get motivated to workout?

Here are 5 hacks to boosting your mental and physical energy and fuelling that motivation to workout, even when you don’t want to!

Motivational Podcasts

Motivational podcasts are an easy, effortless way to boost your drive and desire to workout.

On the way to the gym, first thing in the morning, or on the drive home from work, get your brain pumped to workout and get in the right mindset to fuel that desire to get moving.

fitness tracker for workout motivation

Track your Progress

If you’ve never owned a fitness tracker or smartwatch then go get one!

These little pieces of technology are very addictive..in a good way. They are designed to target that competitiveness in us and trigger that reward, satisfied feeling when we have reached our daily goals and completed those workouts we set to do.

They also don’t need to be mega bucks! Here is the one I have used for years now, The Fitbit Inspire 3.

bike ride workout motivation

Switch up the routine

Try something new, something you can get excited about.

Go for a bike ride, running or, dancing.

Quite often if I’m just not feeling my usual workout I will do a dance workout or even just dance around to music for 5 minutes first and then I’m in a better mood and feel full of energy and ready to do a set workout.

Join a class or workout with Friends

Not only does this make it more fun but feeling a part of a group or knowing you have arranged a set time to meet someone to workout holds you accountable, and you’re less likely to back out or quit.

motivational music

Motivational Music

Have a playlist saved on your phone ready for when your motivation and energy is lacking.

Music is basically a superpower to feel pumped!

There are loads of playlists already available on Spotify for feel-good workout times if you don’t want to make one yourself.

At the end of the day getting motivated to workout starts with your mindset and building discipline around it.

Create a Pinterest board or find an inspirational quote that resonates with you, something you can look at to remind yourself why you’re making the choice to workout, keep fit, and positively change your health and well-being.
